Looking for a quality Bench Drill Press at a reasonable price?

A bench top drill press is an excellent addition to any workshop because it improves drilling accuracy and safety. Instead of balancing a work piece precariously in their hands, users can clamp it to the drill press’s worktable.
A bench mounted drill press is primarily used for drilling holes, though some models and types can also be used to enlarge holes with a boring tool or finish holes with a reamer. Using a special tapping attachment and a tap, they can create threads in a hole.
When it comes to a bench drill press, speed variability is significantly more crucial than horsepower and this Bosch unit has 2 speed settings, Low Speed/High Torque and High Speed/Low Torque.
The Bosch PBD40 Benchtop Drill Press
Benchtop drill presses typically range from 1/3- to 3/4-horsepower versions, the Bosch PBD40 is 710 Watts which is just under 1 HP (0.95), which is heaps of power for a drill this size. The Bosch PBD 40 Bench Drill will definitely suffice for most workshop-based projects.
Please keep in mind that when a drill press begins to bog down, it indicates that you are applying too much pressure on the bit. Users should keep in mind that this is a drill for a DIY’er, so don’t be too hard on it. This drill features an innovative digital display that allows for simple viewing of the precise drilling depth, as well as a high quality keyless precision chuck that automatically retightens the drill bit and a retaining ring that ensures a perfect hold on the drill bit. The integrated laser enables simple and precise drilling.
Dewalt 254mm 2000w 240v corded Table Saw
I love that you can get a unit like this from a store like Bunnings, which is so easily accessible to the average person. The 2000w motor is plenty powerful and easily cuts through softwoods. They’re possibly a little loud and could benefit from some wheels to move it around due to its size and weight. However, it’s not like you’re not constantly moving it around, and it’s probably not a big deal for someone stronger than me. Aside from that, this is a great table saw for the money. The rack and pinion fence is incredible; it’s very accurate after some initial fine tuning, and it’s also very easy to adjust and swap slides; DeWALT has pretty much thought of everything in terms of providing a general purpose unit that will fit in well with just about any size shed and satisfy most people. You get a good unit right out of the box, one that’s well-built and stable, has plenty of accessory storage, and is a very good value bench mount table saw for the price.
Looking for a quality Drill/Driver Kit?
If you’re a do-it-yourselfer, woodworker, or other type of tradie, you’ll need a good cordless drill with plenty of power and a long battery life.
A good drill kit allows us to drill holes, drive screws, assemble furniture, mix paint, sand curved surfaces, remove rust, and build strong hidden joints, among other things. Almost any hands-on adult can benefit from a cordless drill and a set of drill and driver bits.
The Dewalt 20V Cordless Drill/Driver Kit 1/2
The Dewalt drill/driver is compact and small, allowing you to work in tight spaces. It has a variable speed trigger for greater control and precision when doing fiddly work. A tough 20V drill/driver with a quality brush-less motor for efficient operation that weighs only 2.4 pounds. With 340 watts of power, you’ll have plenty of energy to meet your needs. It’s a stylish and functional kit that includes two batteries, a battery charger, and a tool bag.
Dewalt DW1341, 14 piece Titanium tip drill bit set
It goes without saying that we must first purchase the necessary bits before we can begin drilling. Twist bits are a versatile option that is ideal for metal, wood, and plastics because they have cutting edges in the front and a spiral pattern to remove debris. These Twist Bits have ‘speed tips’ that reduce walking and a titanium nitride coating, which is distinguished by its gold-like colour and improves the quality of the bits by adding a protective layer that allows you to drill successfully on metals.
Dewalt DW2166 Driver Set
45 Dewalt quality pieces, including the most commonly used screwdriver accessories. These Philips head bits are designed to precisely fit fasteners, resulting in increased torque and performance. Torsion bits are durable and can withstand high torque levels, resulting in a longer bit life. A magnetic drive guide is included for our convenience, and the well-presented and durable case will undoubtedly find a good home in your shed.
Battery Powered Hand Planer
The Makita 18V DKP181Z Brushless Cordless hand planer is used to quickly shave small pieces of wood off a wooden surface and can be used for a variety of activities due to its portability and power.
A cordless planer is an excellent tool to have on hand when you need to level, smooth, or adjust the thickness of a rough surface.
This brushless 18v Makita cordless planer has a powerful motor that can shave off up to 3 mm. It also has a non-slip handle and can provide precise depth control via a knob with a 0.1mm scale that is easily visible.
6 Piece Split Proof Chisel Set with Non Slip Grip
These Bahco Chisels have a nice and secure nonslip grip that fits comfortably in your hand. They are also split-resistant, which is fantastic, and the handles are made of a special polymer that can withstand repeated steel hammer strikes. These chisels meet the most stringent performance and cutting power requirements while minimising potential user harm.
They are best suited for woodworkers, but carpenters and those in the construction industry may be interested as well.
40V Battery and Brushless 16 Inch (40cm) Chainsaw
Chainsaws
are commonly used for woodcarving, and there are some fantastic artists out
there who use chainsaws to create incredible works.
A
chainsaw is without a doubt one of the most powerful cutting tools available.
With a sharp cutting chain, you can easily cut away at large sections of wood.
They come in a variety of sizes and models, but their usefulness is primarily
determined by the user.
When
carving, for example, the chainsaw is typically used for the majority of the
base work. A grinder and dremel are used to finish the fine details.
This ‘Greenworks’ chainsaw has an electronic chain brake, which is a great safety feature. The chain is actually designed to minimise reactive force, also known as kickback (Low Kickback Chain), and has a ‘tool-less’ tensioner that allows the user to make quick adjustments. It also has automatic chain lubrication and a ‘see through’ chain oil tank that makes it easy to see when the oil needs to be topped up.
I suppose you could call this chainsaw environmentally friendly as well because it is battery powered, which means no fumes and no last-minute dash to the servo to fill up the jerry can/petrol tin. The 40v Fast Charger and either a 2Ah or 4Ah battery are required (both of which are supplied separately). The average run time of the 4Ah Battery is about 60 minutes.
Quality 18V Battery and Brushless Reciprocating Saw
This Makita Reciprocating Saw features an electronic two-speed selection and tool-less blade changing. It features a ‘lock off’ lever, an electric brake, and variable speed control through a trigger. The LED task light is an excellent feature, as is the tool-free shoe adjustment.
Note about vibration (a bit of safety stuff):
Vibration measurement is a description of motion expressed in terms of both magnitude and direction. The magnitude of hand-arm vibration is quantified as the acceleration rate in an engineering unit known as “meters per second squared” (m/s2).
Hand-arm vibration (HAV) is vibration transmitted to a person’s hand and arm when using hand-held power tools such as this saw but it’s not the sort of tool you would be using continuously throughout the day. There are daily limits as to how much HAV a person should be exposed to, I won’t quote all that here but it may be worthwhile looking up. You can learn more at by search for ‘Safe Work Australia’ & ‘Guide to measuring and assessing workplace exposure to hard-arm vibration’
For this unit, below are the vibration details for this reciprocating saw:
Vibration K factor: 1.5 m/sec², Vibration: Cutting Wood: 15.5 m/sec², Vibration: Cutting Chipboard: 16.5 m/sec².
20V Battery Nailer Kit with Battery and Charger
The 20V battery power of this nailer means you can leave the compressor and hoses in the shed. Its powerful motor delivers consistent firing power into a wide range of materials and conditions all day. It is simple to use because of the numerous Tool-Free settings. Because it is fairly light and has a ‘perfect’ centre of gravity, it is comfortable to use in a variety of positions and situations, reducing fatigue.
The multifunctional dual LED lights are used for both lighting and error indication.
18V Cordless & Brushless D-Handle Jigsaw
The Makita DJV184 Cordless & Brushless Jig Saw has an 18v motor, variable speed control dial, tool-less blade change, and a change lever for three orbital settings and straight cutting.
It delivers fast and efficient cutting via a compact design that’s engineered for ease of use and manoeuvrability. It’s a little lighter than you expect has got and a top speed of 3000 strokes per minute which will have you cutting faster than ever before. Its sturdy aluminium base has bevels ranging from 0 to 45 degrees left and right, and the soft ‘no load’ function reduces motor speed while idling to lessen machine body vibration.
This jigsaw is a versatile, powerful, and compact piece of equipment that is easy to use. When you combine the comfortable top handle design with the ability to produce straight or elaborate curved cuts, it’s a quality item for any woodworker’s shed.
20 inch Wide Drum Sander with Cabinet Stand
The drum sander is used in the dressing process; following the planer, a job is sent through the drum sander. Drum Sanders are ideal for folks who despise sanding; it’s far quicker to feed something through a drum sander than it is to work it over with powered hand sanders.
When you first get a drum sander, all you can think about is how much time you’ve wasted over the years sanding projects and how much time and effort this one unit would have saved you. The 1400 RPM drum speed on this Sherwood Drum Sander provides for quick material removal and the 1.5HP motor on this drum sander will not get bogged down on larger jobs.
It was intelligently designed so that it could be moved about the workshop as needed. The sander’s open design provides for 500mm wide sanding capacity in a single pass, and the variable feed settings allow you to slow or speed up the feed rate as needed.
Belt / Disc Sander 4 x 6 inch 375w
This unit
has the best of the sanding worlds in the one spot, a belt sander as well as a
disc sander. Firstly, Belt sanders are
extremely useful instruments. A belt sander is ideal for trimming to a scribed
line, sanding particularly rough surfaces, levelling surfaces, and freehand
rounding and shaping. They excel at
rapid wood removal due to their high power and ability to work with coarse
grits. Furthermore, unlike orbital and vibrating sanders, the sanding motion is
linear, allowing you to sand with the grain and achieve a good-looking result
with coarse grits.
Secondly,
a disc sander is one of the oldest types of sanders. The disc sander is
comprised of a circular abrasive paper set on a circular plate. They are great for end grain work, sculpting
subtle round corners, and quickly removing huge amounts of material. A flat table sits in front of the abrasive
disc, supporting the work. Furthermore, the majority of disc sanders have a
mitre slot on the support table, allowing you to produce straight or angled end
grain work. Disc sanders are ideal for a wide range of smaller projects.
This Sherwood
Belt/Disc combo device features a strong motor, a ribbed poly belt for optimal
power transfer, and machine balanced drums for vibration-free sanding. It has a
very sturdy cast-iron body with a built-in dust extraction port.
Sometimes our tools can amaze us
We become very attached to our power tools and absolutely appreciate them when they help us out beyond our imagination, whether we work full-time in construction or are woodwork enthusiasts.
Our power tools and equipment are very much put to the test at times, and you have to wonder if the designers would be picking their jaws up off the floor if they knew how capable their products truly were sometimes. Every day, I’m astounded by how much lighter our power tools have become while maintaining or even improving their already incredible power and longevity.
It’s almost unbelievable how far battery powered technology has come in the last ten years. In the hands of some people, a good quality and robust tool becomes more than just a tool; it becomes an extension of their mind and body, and when you combine an exceptional level of proficiency with an incredibly powerful tool, it’s no surprise that we occasionally witness some incredible feats.
